Screenwriting Pitch Workshop with Roadmap Writers

Do you have an idea for a movie? These days you need more than a script & a great storyline. You need to know the proper tactics on how to sell your screenplay. The competition is stiff these days so it’s important to become a savvy salesmen. There’s an art to pitching, and guess what? Our friends at Roadmap Writers will provide industry tips on just how to pitch with style and grace, and they’ll fill you in on all the do’s and don’ts to pitching.

Then on Saturday, 11/18 the first 5 people to register will be able to compete in the Screenwriting Pitch Competition with Roadmap Writers at the ACA at 11AM. If you do not sign up in time, the competition is still open for viewers.  It’s definitely worth attending as it is always good idea to watch and see what industry professional respond to.

The winner of the competition will then get the opportunity to pitch to a Hollywood Studio Executive (via a Skype meeting), and this could very well lead to the selling of your script! In addition, the winner will receive Final Draft 10 & Dirty Coast apparel.

You must pre-register to be a part of the Screenwriting Pitch Competition with Roadmap Writers on Saturday, 11/18 11AM-1PM at Acadiana Center for the Arts during Southern Screen Festival – This competition is free with a Southern Screen Festival Pass or $20. Your pass will be checked or your money will be collected at the Screenwriting Pitch Workshop with Roadmap Writers on Friday, 11/17 from 12:30PM-2:30PM. You must attend the Friday workshop to participate in the Pitch Competition on Saturday.

Roadmap has helped over 30 writers get signed to representation or optioned from companies like Circle of Confusion, Route One Entertainment, Zero Gravity, Gersh, Gotham Group, The Shuman Company, Lee Stobby Entertainment, DMG Entertainment and APA. Roadmap strongly believes in diversity and works with the PGA and WGA to create unique opportunities to bring diverse voices to the forefront of the industry.

BRIANA HANSEN is the Director of Writer Outreach at Roadmap Writers. She is a writer, comedian, actress, and all-around goofball who performs stand up, sketch, and improv whenever she’s not hiding behind her computer screen typing away at a screenplay, sketch, series, or whatever else might tickle her typing fancy. Originally born and raised in the Midwest, she now proudly calls Los Angeles her home. Hansen has pitched to and worked in development with various production companies and management agencies, and has a background in touring with entertainment-based educational workshops. She’s performed and trained at The Second City, iO, The Groundlings, UCB, The Annoyance, and The Pack theaters. She’s traveled the country touring with her solo show, Femoir, and continues to travel performing sketch and stand up wherever will have her. Hansen wrote, produced, and starred in an original series, The Other Client List, which was featured on HelloGiggles. She’s also authored three books and produces a monthly sketch show called “Book Report” at The Pack Theater. Hansen continues to constantly write and produce short films, sketches, and pilots that are screened at various comedy festivals in LA and across the country. She also freelance writes for various online publications. She’s a fan of dogs, the ocean, traveling, sunscreen, yoga, and loving things that make her sound like a total LA stereotype. Briana Hansen
BRANDON COMBS is a writer and producer with over 10 years of experience in media production. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Television Film; and has since been involved in multiple facets of the entertainment industry having worked at NBC/Universal, Amazon Studios, MTV and Fox. Currently, based in Los Angeles. Combs is the Creative Director at Roadmap Writers.

Attend this event with a Festival Pass or $10 Day Pass

Festival Passes can be picked up at Will Call the day of the event. Events are first come first serve so you will need to arrive early. There will be two lines, one for Festival Pass holders and one to buy a ticket. Festival Pass holders will be given priority seating, and the ticket line will open 10 minutes before the event. Once the ticket line has been opened, there is no guarantee of admission with a Festival Pass.
